A MAN DROWNED IN A WELL AT RAMARAMA.

Ox Saturday last Mr. \V. Smith, aged 34, a hawker, who resided at Clevedon, was found drowned in a well at Ramarama.

About 1 p.m. Smith called at Mr. James Reid's farm at Ramarama, with his cart and horees, which he had been in the habit of doing when hawking in the district. Mr. Reid noticed the cart stopped near the house, but Smith did not go co the house, oa speak to anyone. At 8 p.m. Mr, Reid saw the cart still standing harnessed, so he released the horses, but there was no sign of Smith. On Sunday morning the incident was reported to Constable Foreman, of Papakura, who went to Ramarama, and saw a body in a well, He could not get it out, but assistance was received from Papakura, and he recovered it. Ib was identified as that of \V. Smith. Deceased has a wife and sister. An inquest was to have been held.
