PROTEST AGAINST FRENCH
ANNEXATION.
STATEMENT BY THE PREMIEK. [by telegraph.—press association.] Wellington, Monday. Replying to a deputation presenting a petition from the Presbyterian Churches of Australasia, praying the Government to use its influence in protesting against the French annexation of the New Hebrides, as aaoh a step would militate against the Presbyterian missions in the island, the Premier expressed sympathy with, tho object, and promised that the matter would be carefully considered by the Cabinet.
