WAITEMATA COUNTY COUNCIL.

The monthly meeting of the Waitemata County Counoil took place yesterday at the ollices, Palmerston Buildings. Mr. A. Bruce presided, and there were also present :— Messrs. Hatfield, Wilson, Cochran, Sinclair, O'Neill, Mackay, Roynolds, McEwen.

Luoas Crkek.—ln answer to a petition from Lucas Creak residents for a portion of the county property for 11 hall site and a park, it was derided to Kraut the hall site, and the consideration of the park site was postponed. A Danohrocs Animal.-The head teaoher of the Hobsoiiville school complained of a savauo bullook at large on the road between Hobsonville and Red-Hill, which was a source ot danger to the school children. Mr. Maya said the matter had been placed in the hands of the police. His action was approved. TENDEtts.-For the supply and delivery of 150 cubic yards of scoria for Waikomiti rottda, the tender of Mr. 8. G. Bray (5s per yard) wue accepted. One tender of 3s 6d per yard for carting 120 cubic yards of broken metal from Helonaville was received, but being considered too high, was refused. For the construction of a bridge at Brigham's Creek, the tender of Mr. Hugh Fuller (£B9 10a) whs accepted. Two tenders were opened for supplying and delivering 120 cubic yards ot broken metal for Theet's Road, Waikomiti, ami that of M, Chas. Mills (8s 2Jd), \ns accepted. RIVERHEAD Road,-Messrs. Jagger and Parker \vro(e, stating that they kept a man employed mending theßiverhead road, which the Council alleged wan damaged by tho firm's traffic, and hoped the Council would not ask the firm to contribute any more towards its maintenance. It was decided to adhere to the resolution holding the firm liable for half cost of the work done on the road, WaimaukuTaopaki Road.— complaint of the state of this road was referred to the engineer. Government Grants, -Communications were received from the Survey Department, stating that the Government had granted £400 for the construction of a track to Kauri Forest, Waitakerei, and £250 for the Huia-West Coast Road. ACCOUNTS. — Monthly and quarterly accounts, amounting to £641 18s 10d, were paused for payment. The overdraft on March 31st was £397 0s Bd, as compared with £707 15s 9d twelve months ago. The interest on overdraft was £43 4s 2d, as compared with £115 5s 3d for the previous year. Doe TAX.-It was stated that the natives of Makaran hail taken out dog collate by order of the native king, and had refused to take them from the county registrar. It was decided to proceed against the < natives who failed to register their dogs in accordance with the Act. General and Separate Rates.—lt was resolved that the rates to be struck at next meeting be the same as those in force for the past year. Mairetahi Loan.-The Council decided not to strike a two years' back rate in the Mairetahi loan district, but to take steps for paying the loan off altogether.

A fishing excursion will be run to Rakino Island and Emu Bay, Motutapu, tomorrow. Rushbrook and Co. have just receired large deliveries of their well-known makes of ladies' and children's hosiery, imported direct from the makers, and the best value in the market.
