THE BRUNNER COALMINING CASE.
[BV TELHORAMI.— PKKSS ASSOCIATION.]
Hokitika, Friday. In tho coal mine case to-day tho cross-ex-amination of James Bishop, manager of the Brunner mine, occupied five hours, and the re-examination occupied the remainder of the afternoon. The cross-examination was a traversing of his whole management, mid designed to test his capabilities in the light of rocont scientific knowledge of coalmine explosions and their causes. Mr. Bishop's theory is that the explosion resulted from an outburst of gas following a fall from tho roof. There is no hope of the case being concluded this week.
