[FROM OCR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Friday. h the Police Court this morning further •remands of one week each were granted in oonnection with the Omahu assault case and the shooting incident in Pollen street on Saturday evening laefc. Sergt. Gillies •tated that the injured men in both caees were still unable to appear, not having yet fulficiently recovered from tbe injuries sustained. The returns from Cabbage Bay in connection with the Thames Licensing Committee election on Wednesday came to hand to day, and as a result the complete totals are as follows:—Moderate ticket: McDonnell, 1250; Burch, 1232; West, 1213; Hornibrook, 1212 ; Swindley, 1180. Prohibition ticket: Horn, 806 ; Deeble, 767; Catran, 744; Roberts, 730; Purnell, 657. A party of natives arrived to-day from Tauranga in order to participate in the "taogi" which is still proceeding in connection with the death of the late Maori chief Taipara at Parawai. The visiting party was welcomed amidst the waviwr of raupo plumes and willow boughs, accouv panied by a loud chorus of " haereniai. . The visitors are accompanied by their braes band.
