THE EXPORT OF OYSTERS.
TO THE EDITOR. Slß,—ln yesterday's issue there is a letter from Mr. Joseph Lowndes on the above subject, and I quite agree with him that the export of oysters should cease, and to allow this delicacy to become within the reach of the humblest of our citizens, which it is uot at present, owing to traders from the other side during the season, who come over and bay up the greater part of the supply. There has been at different times a considerable discussion iu your columns re leasing the beds; but, sir, it appears to me that no one should have an exclusive right to what is the property of the whole of the community, and I trust that our too Liheral Government will during the ensuing session pass an Act pro bibitiug the export of this delicious bivalve, and so allow poor devils like the writer to be able to indulge in an occasional plate of this delicacy.—l am, etc., T.F.
