A LIBRARY FOR DUNEDIN,
[by teleubaph.—press association.] Ddnedin, Thursday. A meeting of leading citizens was held today to consider the scheme suggested in connection with Dr. Hocken's intention to hand over his valuable library. The proposal is that an effort should be made to secure the Colonial Bank building as a home for tho library, the place to be also used as » free public library and art gallery. Tho feeling was that if the building could be obtained ab a moderate price it should be eecured for the city, and a committee was appointed to tako the matter in hand. The building, which is in the heart of the city, was originally built •for a post office, bub was never occupied as such. It was the first home of the Otago University, and part was used as a public museum. It was then purchased by tho Colonial Bank.
