The petition recently forwarded to the Chief Postmaster asking that additional postal facilities be granted the settlers of Kaiwaka has met with a favourable reply. Mr. T. W. Dowson has received from Mr. Biss a notification that the Postmaster-General "had been pleased to accede to the request of the petitioners, and that the additional service would be brought into operation shortly." This will.give us two mails from Auckland per week, ■ The extravagant statements concerning the number of our mails, recently made by a local celebrity, when compared with the above announcement, are not calculated to place him in the fore rank of "reliables."
