THE OYSTER SEASON.
TO BE OPEN TO-DAY.
We have had considerable discussion in our columns as to the opening of the oyster seaeon, and as to what localities should bo opened or kept closed. Yesterday, Mr. Rose, Collector of Customs, received the following telegram from Wellington : "It has been decided to open the whole of the Northern oyster fishery district, that is, from the South Head of Whangaruru to the North Cape. Also to open a new district from the South Head of the Tairua harbour to the South Head of the Opotiki river. Kaipara harbour is also open, and the Manukau only to those persons holding leases. The usual licenses to pick on payment of a foe of 10s will be issued from tho Ist April (to-day)." The Hauraki district is apparently to be kept closed.
