THE HOSPITAL
TO THE EDITOR. Sib,—l have, with a (treat deal of interest, read the various articles and letters on the above question. None, however, lias attracted my attention 30 much as the letter of Sick, and ye visited me not." From my experience and that of others I know, I think the attack made by the said writer is altogether unjustifiable and uncalled for. I was pleased to see in your Saturday's issue, a " Patient" giving his experience, which I think is nearer the mark, and which I hope will tend to remove any false impressions from the minds of those who may have been influenced by the letter of "Sick, and ye visited me not." Now, while 1 do not attempt to say that our hospital has attained to perfection more than any other institution-in its management, yet I do think there is very little to complain of. There are some people, do what you will for them, give what you will to them, they must complain. Even if an angel from heaven were sent to wait on them they would not be satisfied. I was unfortunate enough to meet with an accident which necessitated, a-
surgical operation, and from the time that I was admitted to the Hospital until I was discharged (five weeks) I met with nothing but the utmost attention, kindness, and civility at the hands of Dr. Baldwin and the nurses, in whose charge I was. Only very recently one of my family was admitted to the Hospital, who was just at the gates of death, suffering trom diphtheria, with very little hopes of her recovery, yet, through the skill and close attention of Dr. Pabst, she is now well and amongst us. During the seven weeks she was there I cannot speak too highly of the devoted atteution manifested towards her, and the consideration towards ourselves, both by doctor, matron, and nurses. lam quite satisfied that nothing more could have been done for her comfort. I now take this opportunity of thanking one and all of them for the kindly interest they took in her, and also what I experienced in my own case.—l am, etc., March 29,1597. Axotiier Patient.
