NORFOLK ISLAND.

[FROM OUR OWN CORRESrONDEM.j Norfolk Island, February 23. Everything here i 3 quiet. There has boen abundance of rain for tho last two months accompanied with soinewhab trying northerly weather. Late in January we wore viaitod by a very heavy gale, which severely damaged tho landing place at Cascade Bay, washing away the stone causeway that connects the landing rock with the shore. The whaling companies sustained some damage. Some of tho boilingout houses were washed cway, and some of the tanks belonging to No. 4 •company, while No. 1 lost a boat. Several pines were blown down. The epidemic of whooping cough has virtually ceased. Ib caused three deaths among the Islanders and three also of the Helanesian children died from it. The Bishop has had slight attacks of ague, so has Dr. Williams; othorwise all at the mission staff are well.
