VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
MRS. CLARK'S CUP.
Tee third annual competition for this trophy took place at the Mount Eden Rifle Range on Saturday, in fine weather. The light was good throughout, and the wind a right rear one, fairly steady. The conditions were seven shots each, at 300, SPO, and 600 yds. There were 30 competitors, and some good scores were made afc each distance. At 300 yds no less than 13 succeeded in averaging inner or over. The leading scores were: Hazard, Cox, Skinner, and Doughty, 31; Short, Orr, Nufct.'and White, 30. At 5C0,15 averaged innere or over, the top scorers being 6. Spinley, Nut, and Henderson, 33, Hazard and Strong 32, and Nelson 31, the leading aggregates being: Hazard and Nutt 63, G. Spinley 62, Cox and Burnand 61, Orr and White 60. At 600, six compiled innera or over, Hazard and White 30. G. Spinley, Orr, Nutt, and/ Doughty 29. There was a close finish between Nutt and Hazard, the former scoring 55533355-29, the latter 4553553-30, thus winning by one point. Hazard takes the cup and first money prize, and Nubc, G. Spinley, White, Orr, and Cox the other five money prizes. Hazard's win was a popular one. The customary three cheers were given for the winner; also for Sergt.major Kenrsley for conducting.
