[bi telegraph.—press association.] Wbllingtox, Friday. Beautiful weather prevailed to-day ior the holiday. There waa a nice breeze {or the regatta, and the sea was not too high, though
the small boats found ic rather stiff. Owing to the'paucity of vessels in the harbour, the regatta was without attraction. For the flagship the Rotomahana was to have been been used, but was busy loading. In the first-class Yacht Race, 'only the Waitangi aud Pastime started. The former won easily by 3m. 225. beyond her handicap of Bm. odd. Second-class Race: Alahina, Is Atlanta, 2. The Rona, Mapu, and Waiwetu also started. Handicap Xacht Race: Jennie Reid, lj Novice, 2. The Ouapna, Dolphin, and Pet also started. Third-class Yachts: Vixen, 1; May, 2. The Mahaki, Corona, Greyhound, and Toa were the other starters. There were no entries for the Ships Boat Race, but for the Men-o'-war Sailing Race, three boats started from the Wallaroo, and two from the Liznrd. The lattor'a cutter won, with the Wallaroo's gig, which won the Admiral's Cup, iu Sydney, 2. The latter was beaten by 3m., without the time allowance.
' There was a large crowd on the wharves to witness the swimming races, which resulted as follows :—looyds Wellington Championship : Crabb, 1; Kelly, 2: Home, 3. Time, lm. 16 2-sth s. 220 yds New Zealand Championship : Stratton (Christchureh), 1; TrnsHome (Wellington), 3. The first two"were much too good for the other starters. Time, 3m. 14 4-sth s. In the 75yds Ladies' Bracelet, 17 started in the heats. The result was: Sheriff, 1; Butler, 2; McKees, 3. Time, 54 2-sths. Sheriff, who was leniently treated, also won the 50ydsExhibitionHandicap, from 10 others, Whiting was second and Dodd third. Time, 392-sth«. ' ■ , -.-.
