IMPORTS AND EXPORTS.
The imports into New Zealand during the March quarter were £1,712,528 against £1,755,672 in 1895. The exports wero £4,327,032 against £3,564,840. The principal increases were in wool, frozen meat, wheat, oats, butter, and gold, which amount to £2,828,294 as against £2,190,902 for the corresponding quarter last year,
The gold entered for export in March quarter was as follows Auckland, £93,931; Marlborough, £1910 Nelson, £4991; West Coast, £102,678; Otago, £98,192: total, £301,503. Up to March 31 the total proceeds of the New Zealand goldfiolds was £51,652,504. For the same quarter last year the amount was £267,585.
