Jubilee.—A staff of 43 men is now engaged in various works connected with this company's operations, and matters are beginning to assume a lively aspect. The low level is being pushed ahead expeditiously, and at the present 'time a much bettor class of sandstone is being penetrated, w(iile a good deal of water is issuing from the face of the drive, and hopes are entertained that a lode is not far distant. In connection with the Moonstone level, operations in the face had to be suspended owing to the want of mining timber, the bad roads preventing the necessary supply coming;, to hand, Repairs to the road are, however, in progress, and it is anticipated that these will be completed shortly, and allow the conveyance of timber to proceed. Work at the kilns, dam, and battery is also proceeding satisfactorily, operations At the latter place being under the supervision of Mr. Somerville. In the Jubilee Extended ground operations in,, the No. 1 drive wore rather disappointing, and as a consequence the men are now to bo removed to a point 700 feet more to tho south, when the same lode will be tested. A better class of quartz as far as appearances go is being won from the No.. 2 drive on the same reef, but even here the assays are not of a satisfactory nature.
