THE BRUNNER DISASTER.

Wellington, Wednesday. The post and telegraph officers' subscriptions to the Brunner Fund amount to £879, and will be dosed at £900.
The Ministry disclaim any part in the refusal of the Brunner Commissioners to open the inquiry to the press, but state on the contrary they have no sympathy with the Commissioners' action.
Nelson, Wednesday. The Nelson Brunner fund now amounts to £972 to KM.
Donedin, Wednesday. At a meeting of the Brunner Relief Fund Committee Sir R. Stout and Mr. Henry J. Walter were appointed delegates. It was resolved that in the event of there being any surplus of the fund after adequate provision has been made for the widows and orphans and other dependent relatives of those who lost their Uvea by the disaster it be appropriated to the establishment of a national fund to be formed for the relief of dependent relatives of persons who may be accidentally killed in the Colony of New Zealand, and that the whole fund be vested in the Public Trustee, for investment and administration ; further, that the Public Trustee be asked to forego any commission to whioli he may be entitled for administering the fund, It was further resolved that the Publio Trustee should allocate the funds, upon the recommendation of a looal committee, and that in the opinion of the Dunedin committee, widows should receive not less than 12s, and children 33 6d per week, until, in the opinion of the local committee, relief is no longer required.
