The day Was overcast, with a Strong wind and occasional slight showers, whioh no doubt militated against the attendance at the first day of the Napier Park Racing Club's Winter Meeting! but notwithstanding, there was a large attendance. The racing was excellent, nearly every rape being open until a few yards from the Winning-post. The field changed about like a kaleidoscope, Moonraker lying last until the straight was reach-d when the race looked a certainty for the Heavenly Twin, who had a good lead. Moonraker then Shot out, disputing every inch of ground and got on terms with the Twin and won all out by a long neck, with Alian-a-Dale a good third. Time, 2m. 14s. Dividend, £2 lis.

After crossing the first hurdle Timothy took a strong load, Morag anil Tne Ping next. Gondolier ran round the sod wall, and The Plm came to grief at the post and rails, leaving 'timothy with twenty lengths' lead. Morag was a long way in iroM of Mutiny and Tlrlteft. Bxcept that Morag got on terms with the leader, this order was maintained for a mile, Timothy began to fall behind, and rounding the hill rend the last time the race looked a certainty for Morag, but he came down at the sod wall, ami notwithstanding tint Sweeney made a wonderful recovery, Mutiny sot up, and taking his fences kindly, won by six lengths, Timothy a good third. Hilda nearly came to grass at the obstacle in front of the sod wall, but her rider kept her eoing.
