THE ELECTORAL ROLLS.

The time for receiving applications for enrolment on the principal electoral roll of the City of Auckland terminated at the Government Buildings, Custom-street, on Saturday, and the clerks are now busy working in the alterations in order to have the roll sent to the printers us soon as possible. From inquiries made we learn that only about 1500 applications for enrolment have been made since the notice w< 9 issued, this being in addition to the 12,000 odd which remained on tho roll at the last election. About 4000 names were struck off the roll. There wore some 20,000 names on the roll at the last general election, but there were only 12,000 odd at the byelection, at which Mr. T. Thompson was el ;cted as one of the city representatives, and the increase of 1500 has been made mainly through the exertions of lady canvassers, and some who are working in tho interests of brewers. It may be mentioned that the bulk of the No. 3 supplementary roll used at the last general election was composed of women voters, but that has become almost obliterated, very few names remaining on it, and had it not been for the exertions of the lady canvassers or political agents there would have been comparatively few fomale voters included in the new applications. We may say that the time for enrolment on the rolls for Parnell, Eden, and Manukau, terminates at midday on Saturday next.
