ROTORUA NEWS.
« [BY trlkqbaph,—own CORRESPONDENT, J Rotorca, Saturday, The action of the Town Board in leasing a paddock on the bank of the Utuhina (Jreek to the proprietors of the Grand Hotel and Palace Hotel, for the purpose of dealing with the sewage of these houses, is being strongly resisted by the residents, who live in the vicinity of the creek. They consider it will pollute the water. A petition, praying the Board to take steps to prevent the lessee from carrying out the intention, has been drawn up, and has already been signed by 33 European residents on the creek. The natives who reside there are also protesting. At a meeting at Tamatekamia this forenoon, presided over by Petera te ftukuatua, a petition was drawn up for presentation to the Board, and signed by all present. It is reported here this afternoon that the lessees do not intend proceeding further in the matter, in face of the obj eetion3 made by the residents. This, however, wants confirmation from Auckland.
