WESTPORT COAL COMPANY.
[bt TILKGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION]. DrjNEDIN, Friday. There was a prolonged, and at times lively, special meeting of the Wtstport Coal Company yesterday afternoon to consider a sories of resolutions proposed by some shareholders who objected to what was done at the last annual meeting. The first motion was to rescind the resolution increasing the directors fees to £650 per annum. This was lost by 5865 votes to 3232. A motion that the number of directors be reduced was withdrawn on the assurance of the chairman that the matter would be considered. A motion that it be a recommendation to the directors that the Melbourne Board of Directors be abolished as soon as convenient wag carrieJ on the voices. A motion to the effect that in future balance-sheets the items "of management," "charges," "directors' fees" be separately stated under distinct headings was lost. Another to the effect that the charges in mining coal be shown under separate headings was withdrawn.
