CAPTAIN RUSSELL AT NELSON.

[by telegraph.—press association.] Nelson, Friday. Captain Russell addressed a orowdod meeting in the Theatre Royal to-night, and received a most attentive hearing. His speech was mostly similar to his preceding ones in reply to tho Premier. He opposed Mr. Ward's finance and Mr. Seddon's state merits. Be spoke of himself, Sir Robert Stout, and other members of the Opposition, and made a very hard attack on Mr. Soddon having joined the Anglo-Continental Gold Syndicate, and the officers of the Mines Department taking their service and their knowledge to the syndicate. He alio questioned Ajr. McKenzie's figures as to sjtlement, and eulogised the efforts of the late Sir Harry Atkinson. A hearty vote of thanks was moved by Mr. H. Cook and seconded by Mr. J. Harley, and carried unanimously.
