SAD DEATH OF A YOUNG AUCKLANDER.
Information has beon receivod by Mr. John Dunn, an old and highly-roepectt-xl Bottler of Ararimu South, of the death of his eldesb eon, which resulted from an necidenb ab Kalgoorlie, near Perth, on tho 11th of March last. Ib nppoare from information received by private letters thab the young man was standing at tho mouth of a shaft of a mine, in which ho whs working, when a severe thunderstorm occurred, and in order t» evade the force of the Btorm, he proceeded to descend tho shaft, but miaacd his footinp, and fell to the bottom, a distance of 70 feet. The unfortunate young man only survived his accident a few hours. The deceasod wae born in Newton, Auckland, but for upwards of 20 years he resided with his parents on the Ararimu form, and was one of the most popular young men in the district Prior to hie going to Kalgoorlio, he was contracting in the Wellington provincial district, whore ho made a host of friends. The reports from Kalgooriie show t'>at he was equally popular there; and his funeral was one of the largest over held in thab place. Mr. and Mrs. Dunn have obtained the deep sympathy of their many friends, nob only in the vicinity of their home, bub also from the goldfielde in New Zoaland, and from the city of Auckland. The young man at the time of hie death was juab over 29 years of age, and unmarried.
