NIXON'S MONUMENT AT OTAHUHU.

The final meeting of the Nixon Monument Renovation Committee was held at the residence of Mr. A. Sturges, Otahuhu, on Thursday afternoon, Captain C. J. Wilson in the chair. The balance-sheet showed that the receipts were as follow -.—General subscriptions, £42 4s 6d; Government subsidy, £15; Savings Bank interest, 14s lid: total, total, £5719s sd. After paying the contracts for the renovation of the monument at Otahuhu, a small balance of £1 15s 6d remained. This amount the chairman, with the consent of the committee, devoted to the repair of Colonel Nixon's grave in Symondsstreet Cemetery. The ground has been cemented, and a low curbing-stone has been placed round the grave. The accounts were passed, and the work done under the supervision of the chairman was approved by the committee. The chairman drew special attention to the handsome donation of £25 given by the Volunteers at the Easter encampment at Otahuhu in 1894. It it had not been for Colonel Dignan_ and the Volunteers the renovation of tne Nixou monument and grave would have been a work of difficulty and delay. On the motion of Mr. James Robertson a hearty vote of thanks was given to the chairman, Captain C. J. Wilson, for the disinterested manner he had' superintended and carried out the work to a successful finish. The chairman thauked the committee for their support, and said, as far as he was concerned, it had been a labour of love.
