VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
The weekly parade of the" A " Battery of Artillery) was held at the drill shed last night, Captain O'Brien in command. The exorcise taken was In field gun drill, three of the Armstrong nine pountlord being brought into action and manned. The drill was*of a useful character,' arid the detachments, showed a fair araoUnb of expert knowledge in their duties. The Gordon "Challenge Shield will be competed for at the Mount Eden rifle range, on tho Bth February* The shield Mb presented by the Gordon Rifles When they disbanded to be annually competed for by the Volunteer Compahles of Auckland, with the proviso that teams Of the old or extinct Gordon Rifles should also be allowed to compete. The Rifle Range Committee will meet on Tuesday next and fix the dates for entrances, etc.
