REPLY OF THE GOVERNOR. [FROM OCR own correspondent.] Rotoroa, Thursday, The following reply was received last night from Major Elliot, Private Secretary to the Governor, in response to a telegram sent from here by the Arawa chiefs :—" To the chiefs of tho Arawa tribe, Rotorua : Th 0 Governor has received your telegram, and in Hor Majesty's name thanks you for your loyal offer of service In the Transvaal. You are now aware that the crisis which appeared so serious is passed, but your offer was none the less most creditable to your patriotism, and lie thanks you for the devotion to Her Majesty which promptod it." This reply was read out by one of the chiefs in Tame te Kapua, when expressions of approval wore uttorcd by thoso present at the recognition of their offer by the Governor.
