ft is understood that when Mr. George Hutchison withdrew from the Midland Arbitration case he received a cheque for £1300.

vacancy. Mr. W. E. Woods, sub-manager of the Gear Meat Company, is retiring from its service, after a connection extending over the past- 12 years. He joined it a year after lb was launched, and has been identified with it ever since. In fact Mr. Woods may be said to have assisted at the birth of the frozen meat industry. He was a member of the old Wellington firm of Woods, Crosbie, and Co., which killed the first hundred bullocks that were frozen and shipped upon the Lady Jocelyn.
