HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The usual meeting of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board took place yesterday afternoon. Present: Messrs. Bollard (in the : chair), Swales, Stiohbury, Lennox, Brace, C. Hesketh, White, and Schwartz Kissling. Returns.—Sundry returns relating to the dispensary were laid on the table. , Correpondenoe. — Correspondence < outwards was reported to the Board. A letter re the appointment of the medical superintendent was received from Dr. Von Somerem, asking for information. The secretary was instructed to refer applicant to the printed conditions. Mr. J. Herapath.wrote with regard to the plans of the Hospital ha had offered to the Board. He now left the Board to name its own price. Accounts. — The Finance Committee passed accounts, and they were ordered to be paid. They amounted to £1070. . Charitable Aid Committee's Report. —There was one applicant tor the Home, Alfred Hill. It was decided to ask Constable McKnierhb to report on the case. House Committee's Report.—The House Committee reported that they had authorised filters and instruments for the microscope at the hospital. It was agreed to get a supply of anti-toxin remedy for the treatment of tetanus. The committee reported that Miss Squire, the new lady superintendent, had taken up her duties from the sth instant. It was agreed to give a testimonia to Miss Baker, late Lady Superintendent, who had left the Hospital after 11 years of faithful service. Costley Home Commutes.—The Committee recommended the Board to consider the advisability of refusing admission to the Hospital or Costley Home to parsons from the North Auckland Charitable Aid Board district, owing to the substantial arrears owing, except in urgent cases, to Hospital. Arrears were £1163 odd to 3lst August last. The recommendation was adoptod. A man named Burke, from Hobson County, had been refused to the Costley Home for the foregoing reasons. Notice or Motion. —A notice of motion was given by Mr. Whito, for eliminating a portion of the previous resolution of the Board, which gave the medical superintendent power to appoint or dismiss officials. Hospital Administration. — A confidential talk then took plaoe between Dr. Macgregor, Inspector-General of Hospitals, and the Board as to hospital matters and administration. One of the matters brought under his notice was an apparent omission in the Destitute Persons Act, 1894, and a saving clause making orders granted under the repealed Act of 1877, of same force and effect now as before the Act was repealed. A case was cited of a man named Grungriff, who-left the colony for Sydney, deserting his wife, and refusing to comply with the order of the Court. It had been granted under the Act of 1877. :
