NORTH NEW ZEALAND GRAND NATIONAL MEETING.
At present very little wagering 13 being transacted over the Grand National Meeting, which is to be inaugurated at Ellerslie on the Bth of June, and until it is known for certain what horses are likely to put in an appearance, speculation may be expected to remain duli. The following prices were quoted last night on the double—Grand National Hurdle Race and Great Northern Steeplechase :— 100 to 7 agst Ooala unci Coala 100 to 7 Coda and Bombardier 1"0 to 5 Ebor and Norton 100 to 5 Liberator and Norton 100 to 5 Liberator and Bombardier 100 to 5 Coala and Belle 100 to 4 Liberator and Busaco 100 to 3 to 1 about others. It is understood that Mr. J. J. Russell intends bringing up Belle and Union Jack by the steamer which is due to arrive in the Manukau on Saturday next. So far nothing is known as to Liberator's movements, but it is fully expected that Mr. Butler will brine the Betrayer gelding up to Auckland to fulfil his engagement-;. Mr. Percival notifies horseowners that general entries close on Friday next, at nine p.m. Tenders arc invited up to Friday next for the grand stand and lean-to bars. The cards and stabling are to be offered by auction by Messrs. D. Tonka and (Jo. on that date, at eleven o'clock.
