THE COLONIAL TIMBER TRADE.
LARGE ORDER. Press Association.- Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. London, May 27. Mr. Freyburg, the New Zealand timber expert, reports that the inequality in the sizes of colonial timber blocks is due to the loose methods in sawing, and he points out that this defect is damaging the prospects of the trade here. Sydney, May 2S. Orders have been received by cable to load three ships with 600,000 feet of hard wood timber each, and despatch the vessels to London at intervals of a month. Unfortunately the coastal mills are unable to cope with such a large order, bub the first vessel will bo loaded and dispatched shortly, and an effort will be made to complete the order later on.
