FIRE AT THE WADE.

A fire broke out in the residence of Mr. T. Herd, at the Wade, on March 19, at four p.m. The origin of the fire is unknown. Mrs. Herd was hanging some clothes on a line some distance from the house, and on turning round observed smoke issuing from the windows. She rushed back, and had great difficulty in rescuing her baby from the burning house. Several persons arrived at the scene of the fire, but too late to render any assistance, Mr. Herd being absent at work. Mr. Herd sustains a severe loss; there was £12 in notes burnt, and having only £40 insurance on his furniture, with a large family depending on him, it is very distressing. The house is the property of Mr. Stoney, and is insured.[A Correspondent.] _, . :
