At a conference on the subject of Party Government, promoted by the Progressive Liberal Association, to day, and which was attended by Major W. J. Steward, Messrs. G. W. Russell, G. W. Smith, and W. Collins, M.H.R.'s, a resolution was carried. " That this meeting considers the present system of party government objectionable, and that the general principle of the Hon. Major Steward's Elective Executive Bill is sound, and would tend to promote Parliamentary relorm"; also, "That Major Steward be asked to reintroduce the Bill early next session."
