DUNEDIN~ Donedin, January The holidays have to some extent interiered with business. Very few transactions have taken place, and those have not been very extensive, merely supplying local wants. Shippers do not nee their way to operate at the late quotations, though if holders Were inclined to quit at prices affording them a margin the few on hand could readily be placed. The fact must not be lost sight of that the quantity for disposal is not by any means extensive, and the indi» cations are that the small supply left will not be more than sufficient for requirements. Prime milling, Is 4|d to Is 5d ; best bright stout feed, Is 4d to la 4£d; medium to good, Is 3id to Is 4d; inferior and musty, Is 2d to Is 3d (ex Btore, sacks extra net). 1

WOOL. Invercargill, January 4 -At the first wool sales to-day about 10,000 bales were offered, but a considerable quantity was passed in. 'The prices are considered fairly satisfactory, being about a halfpenny above the last Dunedin sales. Fine half-breds showed a drop since last season of lsd to l|d per lb; Lincoln, Leicesters, and strong wools, fd to id; Merino, Id. Half-bred made 7d to B£d ; strong crossbred and Leicesters, 6d to 7id; Lincolna, s|d to 6£d; Merino, &2d to sd.
