A NEW TURRET SHIP. Messrs. Doxford ami Son, of Sunderland, recently launched an improved typo of their patent turret ships, ami the largest they have yet built, beine upwards of 5000 tons burthen, on a draught of 20ft 4in. Her dimensions aro :—34oft bv 45$ by 26ft, with a gross register of about 3100 tons, and 1900 tons net, her Suez Canal tonnage being only about 2250 tons. Her engines are very powerful, hoving cylinders of *J6in, 42in, anil 6Sin, with a 42in stroke, to indicate 1600 horsepower, and she is capable of poing at a speed of 10* to 11 knots loaded at sea, steam being supplied by two large boilers of 12ft by 16ft, with a donkey boiler 10ft by 7in. She has two decks laid and side lights cut all round, making her a splendid troopship if required. She is fitted with every modern improvement, and span gear throughout, six steam winches, six derricks, water ballast, lofty _ 'tween decks, etc., and has the highest registry in the Bureau Veritas and British Corporation Registry.
