One hundred thousand colliers are now on strike. The labour malcontents demand that five hundred million dollars shall be expended on relief works. The daily loss by the coal strike is already estimated at twenty-five thousand pounds. Washington, April 24. _ The Senate has refused to receive petitions from Coxey and his army. The National Guard in Washington is being mobilised with a view to preserve order if necessary.
