THE GOLDFIELDS.

MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Try Fluke (Kuaotunu, April '20).—During this week the bulk of the ore crushed at tho mill is from the surface workings and upper levels. I am anxious to work out this ground, and {jet it filled in before the rainy weather sets in. The rise from No. 2 level to Carbine level on the main reef is holed through. This will open up another block for stoping. lam also stoping out a block of ground on the No. 2 reef. Above the Kuaotunu upper level the lode is from one to two feet thick, and occasionally gives fair prospects. I have only had one shift in the drive north on the mum reef this week ; the prospects are about the same. The lode is not quite so well defined, being intermixed with bands of mullock. This is most likely to cut out in a few feot driving. We are taking along the leading stope north on the No. 2 reef at No. 3 level. The lode in the drive is small, a portion of which appears to be going off into the hanging-Wall. I have therefore stopped this drive tor the present, until the leading stope is brought along to the face. I have all the hands I can spare from the mine, etc., working at the connection from the Mariposa section to the battery. lam in hopes to have it completed in about two weeks' time if the weather keeps fine. The reef in the drive going north in the Mariposa seetion is about tour feet thick, portions of which look well. Near the eastern wall a little gold can be seen in the stone, and judging from its appearance I should expect it to turn out well when treated. Up to date I have on hand 2410z of amalgam. We have had a lot of stoppages this month. Xdo not expect to be able to null it up before the clean up, which takes place at the end of next week. The battery is now in good working order, and by the end of next week we shall have the berdans erected, bo that I am looking forward for a better return next month.

Great Mercury (Kuaotunu, April 20).— During the past week the stopes on the eastern reef nave been extended 46 feet, w, th the same results as formerly reported. The battery was started to crush the ore on hand on Monday, 16th, and kept fully emEloyed since that date. Up to the present I ave 120oz 9dwt of amalgam on hand. Red Mercury (Kuaotunu, April 20).— contractor for driving the intermediate level will have the reef stripped his distance, 50 feet; by to-morrow night, but there will be fully 15 feet of the reef to break down, as the footwall has not been touched for that distance, so I oannot say what width the reef is. There are'about two feot of the reef broken down, but there is no footwall showing yet. ■ I expect they will start shooting down the quartz to the footwali on Monday. I expect to be ready to put through another trial, crushing of between 20 and tons from the intermediate level some time next week.

Cambria.—-The six-inch leader found in the hanging wall of the main reef in the Cambria section still shows all the indications for specimens being got. As it abuts on the big patch that was found in the main reef the prospects are hopeful. Consols.-—The creditors have received a first dividend of 6s 8d in the £ from the liquidator (Mr. R. McDonald Scott) of the company, now in liquidation.
