SINGULAR DISAPPEARANCE OF A NATIVE.

[BT telegraph.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Tacraxga, Monday. Ox Saturday, just after one o'clock, two natives, Hohaia (Josiah) and Horoman (Solomon), left for Motiti Island. The steamer Katikati picked up the boat about three miles from Motiti, and found only Hohaia on board. The boat had no sails up nor oars, and Hohaia professed to know nothing of how Solomon disappeared. They had a bottle of rum and two bottles of beer, and Hohaia said that Solomon was steering the boat when he went to sleep. When he woke he had disappeared. A brother of Solomon came over by the Katikati to make enquiries, bub so far with no result. The Motiti natives" are very pott i over it. The natives at Maketu are to telegraph to-night by fire signals to the natives at Motiti to come over to-morrow, when a further enquiry will be made. The matter has been reported to the police by Solomon's brother, and they are also making enquiries. Solomon, who is a Motiti native, had only returned from Auckland on Saturday morning after a visit there.
