Ib is generally believed that the largest orange trees are to be found in Asia Minor. But none of these trees, in point of size, come up to an orange tree growing in the Cape Colony, and described as follows by a Cape journal:—At a farm two hours from Oudtstroom, wiled Vergelegen, there is an orange tree 38fb high, the circumference of the lower branches being about 100 ft. After a great many had been taken off, the remaining oranges were picked, and upon being counted were found to number 9000. A few yeara ago the same tree yielded 11,600.
