Goldie. This arrangement will doubtless prove highly satisfactory both to the competitor* themselves and also to those officers connected with the committee, who will be responsible for the orderly conduct of the events or the day, but more particularly -will the innovation benefit the judge of . the sailing races, by reason of the* fact that it will greatly minimise his responsibility. Under this new regulation the regarding the correct .measurement of this or that yacht or sailing bos, which so often proves a source of dissatisfaction amongst the competitors and'aoaune of after annoyanceto the committee will be entirely avoided. The ■ programme of events for, the 1894 regatta can scarcely fail to please the most of aquatic enthusiasts, the various races having been so judiciously arranged. The splendid prize offered - for the Champion Yacht Race i ought to induce yacht owners in other parts; •of '.he colony to put in an appearance at the regatta to take part in this " the event of the day." The success of the regatta will, however, almost, entirely depend , upon the amount of support accorded by tradespeople and private citizens. It is therefore necessary for the credit of ~ Auckland that every inhabitant who can afford to do so should respond to the appeal which will shortly be mad? by the committee, and subscribe as liberally as possible.
