FIRE AT THE LAKE.
A portion of the outbuildings on the dairy farm ,of Mr, R, Mackay at the: Lake were destroyed yesterday morning by fire. Mr, Mackay and the man in his 'employment had been up shortly after daylight milking the cows, but they 'had used no light or fire, The fire originated in a kitchen, where there had been a fire on the previous evening.' The kitchen was burned dowi, a milking sheet, and another , outhouse. ~- Mr. Mackay was at another part of the premises when the fire was discovered. Spine persons who were In the neighbourhood came to his assistance, and by using water from a well they were enabled to cava the' "greater portion of the buildings. ' With the buildings wore destroyed a number of vessels used in the business. The dwelling and block of buildings were insured in the New Zealand for £700,' but the loss through ■ the destruction or damage to isolated buildings will not, ib is believed, exceed £10(X --
