AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION.

A special meeting of the Auckland Provincial Agricultural Association was held yesterday afternoon, at Mr. Alfred Buckland and Sons' rooms, Queen-street. Mr. W. F. Massey (president of the Association) presided. There . were also present: Messrs. Kirkbride, J.- Phillipps, Baird, English, Pilkington, and others. The Chairman explained that this was a, special meeting, called to consider an alteration of a rule proposed by Mr. Caverhill. It was moved by Mr. Phillipps, and alter some discussion it was carried in the following form:— financial members of other Agricultural Associations in the province of Auckland, and the sons of full subscribing members to this Association, such sons not being in business for themselves, be admitted as members of the Auckland Provincial Agricultural Association on payment of half fee and that this resolution be embodied in Rule l." The Executive Committee then met. Messrs, Nathan and Co. offered a prize of five guineas on behalf of the Shaw, Savill and Albion Co. for the best five sheep for freezing purposes. The donation __ was re. ceived, and it was agreed to award it as directed. A communication was received from the Opotiki Association, relative to the want of some suitable site on which to land cattle near the Auckland market. Several sites were suggested in the course of conversation, and the general opinion was that Orakei would be the most suitable. On the motion of Mr. Phillipps it was agreed that the secretary be requested to communicate with the Harbour Board, pointing out to them that there was no public landing place for landing cattle in the vicinity of Auckland, and suggesting that some place in the vicinity of the markets be set apart for this purpose. The committee then proceeded to deal with the question of the appointment of judges, the preparations for the new buildings on the grounds, the arrangements for a parade of racehorses on the second day of the show, and other matters of detail, after which the meeting adjourned.
