NEW PLYMOUTH.

The fifteenth annual meeting of the New Plymouth Gas Company was held on Thursday afternoon. Mr. A. Shuttle-worth occupied the chair. The accounts for the year show a profit of £801} Ms 6d to which, adding the balance from the previous year of £128 3s Id, makes a total of £931 17* 7d, which the directors propose to ileal with as follows :— Writing off furniture account, £115 10s ; to dividend of lis 2d per share for the year which will include the interim dividend paid to 31st December, 1892, £010 l.'Js 4d ; to 2a 6d per share, to be added to capital, which will then stand at £8000 paid up £250; to balance oarried to next year £51 14s .'id : total, £U3l 17h 7d. Mr. J. i>. Connett was elected director in the place of the late Mr. King. The chairman intimated that the dividend would be paid after the 15th August. The fourth annual show of the Poultry. Pigeon, and Canary Association was held last Thnrsday and Friday, and turned out a great success. There was a good attendance of the public. The inquiry into the various charges laid against K. Wallath, the highwayman, has been concluded, and he has been committed for trial on all informations laid by the police. Dr. St. George, who had been confined to his bed for the- List fortnight, died this morning, He was the oldest medical practitioner in J'nranaki, having arrived here with the pioueers in the shin Amelia Thompson.
