New York, July 18. The United States warship Mohican discovered the Hawaiian steamer Alexandria poaching in the Behring Sea, and tired across her bows.
The Alexandria returned her fire from a six-pounder she had on board, smashing the Mohican's machinery. This enabled her to escape.
