WANGANUI AND INANGAHUA SEA
[by telegraph.— press ASSOCIATION. Wanganci, Thursday. A large and representative meeting of the Opposition party to-night, to decide on a candidate for the coming by-election, decided unanimously to nominate Mr. Gilbert Carson. Wkstport, Thursday. Mr. o'Regan addressed a meeting at Addison's Flat last evening, and was well received. His speech was mainly a repetition of his Cape Foulwind address. Ho expressed strong objection to tho manner of Sir R. Stout's candidature, and received a vote of confidence. Mr. Reeves, ex-M.H.R., addressed the Charleston electors last evening in favour of Sir R. Stout. Several others followed in the same' strain. A motion was carried unanimously expressive of confidence in Sir R. Stout, and sympathy with Mr. Reeves.
