PURGING THE ELECTORAL MOLLS.

[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Wednesday. This morning Messrs. J. Duthie and G. Fisher, M.H.R.'s, waited on Sir P. Buckley for the purpose of drawing attention to the Wellington roll, which has the reputation of being the worst in the colony. Mr. Duthie said that upwards of 1100 circulars addressed to supposed electors just before the last election, were returned through the Dead-letter Office. Sir P. Buckley said he could not interfere with the registrars, who were statutory officers, but he had given general instructions to pnrify the rolls He had giren assistance whenever asked for, and he would do everything possible to purity the new electoral rolls.
