THE WHANGARA ROAD CASE.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Wednesday. The case of the Cook County Council v. Rawiri Hinaki and others, was argued before tho Court of Appeal this afternoon. The appeal was from Mr. Justice Conolly's ruling. The Council laid off a road through tho Whangara Block, belonging to the respondents, acting under the wurrant of the Governor under section 93 of the Native Land Court Act, 1886. The respondents contend that the warrant is invalid, section 93 nob applying to the Whangara Block, which was held under certificate of title under the Native Lands Act, 1807, dated mors than 15 years before the Act of 1886. Mr. Justice Conolly so held, and the Council now appeals. Mr. Bell was for the appellant, and Air. Cooper for the respondents. Judgment was reserved.
