[BIT WLKGRAPH.—PRRSS ASSOCIATION.] Tactranga, Friday. An earthquake shock occurred at half-past six this morning. The only effect reported is that the elevated tank at the Government building was thrown out of plumb. It had to be emptied and the frame repaired.
Wellington, Friday. The rainfall for October was as follows : —Auckland, 3*98; Wellington, 4-58; Lincoin, MO; Dunedin, 4 06. Christohuboh, Friday. Seventy-three tradesmen, including some of the leading firms, have signed an agreement to close on Thursday afternoons. These are in addition to the bakers and butchers.
DtrNKUiK, Friday. A young man, supposed to have come from Wellington, John Carnie, has been committed for trial on a charge of forging a cheque for £3. Other charges are beiag heard, tradespeople receiving the cheques in each case. -
Oamaru, Friday. There was splendid weather for the second day of the show, and the attendance was large. The day was devoted to the judging of draught stock, of whioh there waa a good exhibition. Mr. R. McAulay's imported horse Wallace took the championship for draught entires, and Mr. T. Mee's Clydesdale Fancy for mares.
