Each troop taking part will guarantee £20 towards the expenses. The Minister of Defence proposes a camp meeting of navals and naval artillery for drill and practice early in the new year. SPECIAL SESSION OP PARLIAMENT.! ' The proposal of Mr. Bees for a special session to consider native legislation meets with anything bub favour here. The Press refers ;to . ib as follows :— *• Mr. Bees' scheme for holding a special session of Parliament to deal with native legislation, which is mentioned in our Auckland telegrams, is, like all the schemes of that gentleman, impracticable. In the first place, it would be almost impossible to get a House in February or March, as suggested by Mr. Bees; and, in the second piac*>, if that were got, the special session would, in order to deal adequately with so large and i difficult a subject, have to be prolonged until ; the time for beginning the ordinary session. Members would then, of course, insist on having a recess of at a couple of months, and the result would be that the ordinary session could not begin until four or five months of the financial year had elapsed."
