WILL'S SURPRISE PARTY.
The estimation in which the company no\» performing at the Opera House is held by the Auckland public was clearly shown by the attendance on Saturday night, th« house being absolutely packed downstairs, while there was little room to spare in th« circle. And in return for this excellent) patronage, as a proof that the members oi the company are as anxious as they are able to amuse and interest, the entertainment was even better than on any previous occasion. It is true that Friday night's programme was repeated, but it seemed to " go" with a spirit and liveliness considerably greater. As usual, Miss Verne was a host in herself, and her numerous contributions were among the great attractions of the ■ evening, while the winsome Miss Williams took the house by storm with her serio-comic congs and her clever skirtdancing. Miss Ruby Clifford's sand-jig waa deftly executed and highly appreciated; Miss Nimmo and Miss Taylor were in capital voice; Mr. Dave Gardner and his coadjutor, Mr. G. A. Jones, were excruciatingly funny ; and the other members of the company acquitted themselves in consonance with the general merit of the performance. The juggling exhibition given by Monsieur Provo was marvellously clever, and his " shadowgraphs" are really alone worth a visit to the Opera House to see. The amusing finale to the first part and the farce with which the entertainment concluded created boundless merriment. The same programme will be presented for the last time to-night, and it is announced that the company will be strengthened by the addition of two new performers, Messrs. Tuder and Fritz, both of whom have the reputation of being exceptionally talentec in their particular lines.
