Russia, under commercial pretences. . has addressed a claim to the Porte for passage of her warships through th€ Bosphorus and Dardanelles. Six ,C, Ford, British Ambassador, strongly resists the claim. - ' ' - ■ Constantinople, Qctober 15. Russia is seeking to induce the Porte to grant free passage through the Dardanelles to Russian warships,' flying a commercial flag, and to close the straits to other Powers.
