"GOD'S OWN COUNTRY"
A NEW POEM BY THOMAS BRACKEN. Under the above title Mr. Thomas Bracken, who is now in Victoria, has written, specially for the Herald, a poem descriptive of New Zealand, which will appear in our issue of Saturday next. Mr. Bracken is known to all as the author of many fine poems. His poetic ability, his warm heart and generous feelings, have manifested themselves in this poem, in which he makes a rapid survey of the colony, passing over it on the wings of fancy from North to South, in his flight delineating all the more prominent features of its scenery. In a note accompanying the poem Mr. Bracken says he believes it to be the best he has ever written. We are sure it will be warmly appreciated by all who know and love New Zealand, and will add to the fame of the author.
